Verotel incorporates multiple real-time anti-fraud mechanisms to minimize the risk of fraud to our customers. Fraudulent transactions need to be paid back to the cardholder. This is called a chargeback. Chargeback prevention is a priority not only to stop the automatic reversal of a transaction, but also because high chargeback ratios can cause fines for the webmaster or merchant. A minimal number of chargebacks is always a possibility. When a chargeback does happen, Verotel will attempt to collect the transaction amount from the enduser. Verotel carefully monitors every webmaster and merchant to ensure that these VISA and MasterCard penalties are not imposed
Verotel offers only credit card processing to websites offering content. Please note, tangible products and services can NOT be sold with a Verotel account. Content websites normally use a 'members' area; a directory on your website that is password protected. Access to the members' area is with a usercode (username) and a passcode (password). A small script on your webserver lets Verotel add, modify and delete usernames and passwords to this members' area. That's why your server needs to have a CGI directory to work with Verotel. Verotel uses a Perl or ASP script, called Verotel Remote User Manager. Installation of the script is easy. With the Verotel Remote User Manager, Verotel will assign your client a usercode and passcode and add, modify or delete these codes in your local user database in real-time!
The Verotel Remote User Manager is part of the Subscription Management tools, which are included in your Verotel account. The Remote User Manager can be downloaded as a Perl or ASP (Microsoft Windows NT) script from the Verotel Control Center.
If you are unable the install the script yourself, Verotel can do it for you - for free! With an installation request (available in the Verotel Control Center) you can have a Verotel Merchant Support Engineer
